Kenneth Harasym
Pretty View
Ragpickers Anti- Fashion Emporium – 90 Annabella Street, 3rd floor
This series of photographs explores the passage of time and the passing of life, offering a candid consideration of fleeting beauty and quiet reflection. Harasym, through his contemplation of death as part of the eternal flow of time, has come to accept mortality and embrace the present more fully.
Captured without the intention of creating art, these images of the Winnipeg skyline were taken over two months on a camera phone from a loved one’s hospital room window. The photos emerged spontaneously, inspired by the ethereal light and shifting hues of the sky.
Pretty View is not merely a visual record from a single vantage point; it is a meditation on the fragility and beauty of existence. Each image, marking the passage of time, serves as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of mortality. The artist invites the viewer to embrace the present moment and find solace in the fleeting beauty that surrounds us.
