“Twelve Views of Winnipeg”
Twelve Views of Winnipeg is excerpted from a larger project with the working title, “Long Views – Short Events.” I began the project in 1982 with a photograph of Dean Gunnarson effecting a straitjacket escape and completed it in 1989 with a photograph a day through July and August. For this series, I worked with a photojournalist’s relic from another time, a Crown Graphic 4×5 Press camera, to photograph events from a more distanced perspective reminiscent of an earlier era. The photographs are not approached in the style of early photojournalists nor are many of the events newsworthy. Instead, they are meant, in part, to visually illustrate the print journalist questions: Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How.
Please join me on Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 10am to 2pm at 318 McDermot Avenue for an informal opening.
