“2 Flaneuse and a Jack of All”, a rather tongue in cheek attempt to describe for FlashFest the spirited works of this trio, who have actually worked as a team for over a decade! Flaneuse, a feminist take on the 18th century “Flanuer” one who strolls about observing and describing urban life, and a ‘Jack of All’ alluding to a fellow who is quite literally one of many talents! While each of these artists has their own style and body of work, Lisa Waldner – well known for her Festival Photography and her unique product work for magazines and corporate clients; Ronnie Abelada with his technical skills and passion for high fashion, and Kristen Andrews, a film maker and performance artist, known primarily for her collection of period clothing and fascination for photographs ability to capture a moment in time; FlashFest is a chance for them to exhibit their favourites together. Where this group meets, is in the tradition of Portrait Photography, leaning heavily on the traditions of Creative and Constructionist approach. Allowing the environment, the costume and the posing to portray a story, show something historical or of social significance – the 3 often collaborate and also use their own techniques and experience with everything from lighting to aesthetic to produce portraits both candid and contrived. The show in the Studio of The Ragfactory showcases just a smidgen of their whimsy!
