ML Kenneth has spent intentional time away from the chaos of city living, exploring Manitoba’s varied landscape throughout its seasons. From the wide open skies, famous prairie sunsets, parks, waterways, lakes and hilly terrain, our diverse scenery is our provincial identity. Exploring the northern tundra and boreal forest, to the eastward Canadian Shield, and heading west to Riding Mountain National Park, ML discovered inspiration and new perspective.
We live in an overstimulated world. Taking the time to seek out awe inspiring vistas, waiting for the best light of the day, and watching for cloud formations to alter the view, is a meditative process. Absorbing what Mother Earth is offering within our boundaries offers reprieve and retreat from the everyday.
ML Kenneth, BFA, is an intermedia artist working in Winnipeg’s historic Exchange District. Her practice is inter-disciplinary, using photography, printmaking, painting, sculpture, writing and installation to create narrative based works through visual storytelling. The natural world continues to inform her work and life.
