Michelle Panting has spent the last four years writing about and photographing Winnipeg. Her work focuses on meeting with artists, entrepreneurs, public figures and artisans to chat with and photograph them in their natural habitat. In her photographs, Michelle strives to catch her subjects in moments of comfort and contentment. To ease the tension and heightened self awareness people often experience in front of the lens, she spends time getting to know her subject and encourages them to focus on a task. She also attempts to catch people in a moment of laughter or pause in conversation.
Michelle’s training in photography is a hodgepodge of playing with film cameras as a child and teen, enrolling in the odd course, spending time working with other photographers and independently playing and reflecting.
